It’s the New Year, typically a time for people to assess their goal accomplishments and take look around at the leftover detritus of the hectic and wonderful Christmas season.  We usually do some deep cleaning after the holidays to start the year off fresh.  After the cleaning is over, I really enjoy looking at my goals for the year and organizing something.

In today’s Encouragement lets take a look at Ephesians 5:17 “So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”  How do we “understand what the will of the Lord” is? There are a few concrete things we can do…

  1. First order your steps in the Lord. This is Step One, your baseline. If you don’t have a standing quiet time appointment first thing in the morning, then the organizational stuff is beyond that. So first get that one down.  Begin by Meditating on His will because seeking to know what our Creator wants of us is wise use of time
  2. Becoming more spiritually focused. Ephesians 5:18 says “And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,” which is an admonishment for us to be sober minded in our efforts to seek God’s will.  He wants us to know Him better!
  3. Mind the time, in James 4:14 it says “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”  We cannot know how many more days hours or minutes we have left on this Earth.  Accordingly we should make every minute count.  The Bible tells us it is God’s will that we should enjoy our work and our leisure time, but make the most of each because the time is short.

Now you’re ready for the other organizational stuff!  God Bless!!
