The people’s hearts had become hardened and unresponsive to the truth. They could barely hear with their ears, and they had intentionally closed their eyes so they would not see, hear, understand, and turn back to God. Because of their spiritual blindness and unwillingness to repent, they resisted the healing and restoration that God desired to give them.
