Why introduce a bill to fix the ILLEGAL immigration problem or healthcare when you can introduce a bill for “natural” hair?

On Thursday, Sen. Cory Booker, and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate decided the number one issue on his agenda is to take action against hair discrimination by employers, I am not kidding.

The bill with his name attached bans discrimination based on hair textures and hairstyles commonly associated with a particular race or national origin.

What we see here is more micromanagement by the left. Will Booker also legislate that customers have to buy from stores with slovenly employees? I have no beef with natural hair. I think it is better for the health of the one wearing it and cheaper to maintain, but when you work with the public as in customer service, banking, or sales, you need to cultivate a very prim, traditional appearance. My first employer went as far as to demand beards and mustaches be shaved off. You can mandate all of this, but the customer is king.

The Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair (CROWN) Act will target discrimination against natural or protective hairstyles frequently associated with a particular race, including specific hair textures and styles such as such as braids, twists or locs.

“Discrimination against black hair is discrimination against black people,” the New Jersey Democrat said in a statement. “Implicit and explicit biases against natural hair are deeply ingrained in workplace norms and society at large. This is a violation of our civil rights, and it happens every day for black people across the country.”

“No one should be harassed, punished, or fired for the beautiful hairstyles that are true to themselves and their cultural heritage,” Booker added. [National Review]

A serious presidential candidate made this the focus of his platform. It seems like an admission that the country is doing just fine if this is the most pressing issue of the day.

Dress codes are required in some jobs. Massive amounts of hair on people in the food trades cooking, serving, and meeting the public and offensive. You can always find a reason not to hire someone if they look like they just crawled out of the jungle.

I never even heard of natural hair discrimination. I do know that hair, not the protected property, can get caught up in machinery, doors, hinges, and in some cases bushes, briars and become an issue when people behind a person cannot see over a lot of hair. But I did not EVER see it as discrimination. I always considered clean, kept hair as intelligent, safe, and dignified.
